I have years of experience in commercial magazine editing. My earliest staff jobs were heading the English half of a bilingual magazine through Stern, a German magazine published by Gruner + Jahr in Hamburg; reporting for German periodicals (including Focus and ELLE) from the New York correspondence office of the German publisher Burda; and, later, a senior editorial position at Time Out New York. I have also edited corporate publications in upper-management positions for clients like Visa Europe and Design Hotels AG.
At some point I went less commercial and more artistic. These days I edit books, museum catalogues, and monographs on art and other visual culture for institutions including Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart), Hamburger Bahnhof (Berlin), Haus der Kunst (Munich), Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), and most recently the Romanian Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale. I edit catalogues and exhibition materials for galleries such as KOW and Sprüth Magers (both Berlin). I have had long-term editorial relationships with publications including Texte zur Kunst magazine (Berlin), On Design (Volkswagen Autostadt, Wolfsburg) and more; and have worked in an editorial capacity for individual artists.
When needed, I develop style guides and set up and lead editorial teams for extensive projects. A list of catalogues and books is available on request.
